AI Recognition Quick Create: From Paste to Live Activity in 3 Steps

A walkthrough of LiveUp 1.6.4's AI recognition flow — paste text or pick a screenshot, and AI builds a reviewable Live Activity for you.

Delivery notifications, flight emails, group-chat pickup codes — you used to fill each field by hand. Now you can paste or pick an image, and AI turns it into a reviewable Live Activity card. That's the AI recognition Quick Create flow shipping in 1.6.4.

What Problem It Solves

The whole point of a Live Activity is "see the key information at a glance on the Lock Screen." But creation is often the friction:

  • Many fields, lots of typing
  • Source data scattered across apps
  • Copy-paste from screenshots is long and error-prone

AI recognition compresses all of that into three steps: pick a source → AI extracts → confirm and activate.

The 3-Step Flow

Step 1: Pick an Input Source

In Quick Create, 1.6.4 offers two AI options:

  • Paste text: Copy in order SMS, trip notifications, email bodies, or chat messages
  • Pick a screenshot: Choose an image from Photos that contains the key information

Both routes share the same Smart Card engine, so the result format is identical.

Step 2: AI Extracts the Key Facts

Once submitted, the engine extracts fields using a fixed-template + evidence approach:

  • Times, locations, order numbers, pickup codes
  • A short summary (no longer truncated)
  • Suggested activity type and style

Everything is shown on a confirm screen — no activity goes live without your sign-off.

Step 3: Confirm and Activate

The result lands in an editable card where you can:

  • Activate as-is if it looks right
  • Edit any field by tapping it
  • Switch the style to a layout that fits the content better
  • Set activation timing: now, or scheduled later (paired with 1.6.2's delayed activation)

Three Common Scenarios

Scenario 1: Delivery and Home Services

Paste a delivery notification — AI recognizes the merchant and ETA and produces a countdown activity.

Scenario 2: Flights and Trains

Pick a trip screenshot or email — AI pulls departure/arrival, flight number, and seat into a Lock Screen activity.

Scenario 3: Pickup Codes and Parcels

Drop in a parcel pickup screenshot — AI returns a pickup activity with code and optional notes (introduced in 1.6.1).

Privacy and Control

1.6.4 makes a few engine-level decisions to keep AI trustworthy:

  • Evidence-based parsing: Key fields must trace back to source spans, reducing hallucination
  • Confirm before activate: AI results never auto-activate
  • Unified envelope: In-app, Siri, and Shortcuts all return the same shape, so behavior is easier to audit

Who Should Try It

  • Anyone who often handles semi-structured information (orders, tickets, pickup codes)
  • Workflows that prefer "less tapping, more automation"
  • LiveUp Pro users who want the newest creation flow

FAQ

How accurate is AI Recognition?

The new engine uses evidence-based fixed-template parsing, which is more stable than a plain LLM call. It can still make mistakes — that's why the confirm step stays.

Can I use it without LiveUp Pro?

AI Recognition is a Pro feature. Free users can still use the manual Quick Create flow.

What screenshot formats are supported?

Common formats from Photos (PNG, JPEG, etc.). Clearer images with visible key fields work best.

Wrap-Up

AI Recognition lowers the bar for creating Live Activities. If you already keep important info on your Lock Screen, 1.6.4 makes that path shorter and smoother.
