AI Recognition Shortcuts: Turn a Screenshot Into a Live Activity Automatically

1.6.4 adds AI Recognize Text and AI Recognize Image shortcuts. Combined with Siri and system automation, the screenshot-to-activity flow finally runs end to end.

LiveUp 1.6.4 ships two new shortcuts — "AI Recognize Text" and "AI Recognize Image." Paired with Siri and system automation, the long-asked-for "screenshot → recognize → create activity" chain now runs from a single sentence or a single screenshot.

The Two New Shortcuts

AI Recognize Text

  • Input: A piece of text (clipboard, output from another shortcut, share sheet)
  • Output: An activatable Live Activity
  • Use case: One-tap convert order SMS, trip notifications, or chat messages into activities

AI Recognize Image

  • Input: An image (latest screenshot, photo picker, passed from another shortcut)
  • Output: An activatable Live Activity
  • Use case: After taking a screenshot, automatically recognize parcels, deliveries, or flights

Both shortcuts share the same Smart Card engine as the in-app flow — same result envelope, same behavior.

New Parameters: Activation + Card Style

The 1.6.4 shortcuts support two new optional parameters for fine-grained control:

  • Activation: Immediate, delay 30 min / 1 / 2 / 3 hours, or a specific time (consistent with 1.6.2)
  • Card style: HUD activity or generic activity

The same recognition action can have different "when to start + how to show" depending on the automation.

Three Recommended Combos

Combo 1: Screenshot → AI Recognize Image → Create Activity

Great for flight tickets, train info, deliveries, and pickup codes.

  1. Trigger: Take Screenshot (system automation)
  2. Get latest screenshot
  3. Run "AI Recognize Image"
  4. Activation: Immediate, card style: HUD activity

Result: Right after the screenshot, the matching Live Activity appears on your Lock Screen.

Combo 2: Clipboard → AI Recognize Text → Delayed Activation

For when you copied an order or trip but don't want it on the Lock Screen right away.

  1. Run "Get Clipboard"
  2. Run "AI Recognize Text"
  3. Activation: Delay 30 min or specific time

Result: The activity is queued and surfaces only when you actually need it.

Combo 3: Siri Phrase → AI Recognition → Activity

Wrap either flow above into a Siri phrase, e.g. "Log my delivery."

  1. Trigger: Siri phrase
  2. Receive text or image
  3. Run AI Recognition → create activity

Result: Hands-free creation while driving, carrying things, or cooking.

Setup (Common Steps)

  1. Open LiveUp Settings → Shortcuts
  2. Find "AI Recognize Text" or "AI Recognize Image"
  3. Add it to the Shortcuts app
  4. Configure parameters (activation, card style)
  5. Optional: Wire it into a system automation or Siri phrase

The Settings page now hosts all LiveUp shortcuts in one place (continued from 1.6.2's unified entry).

Comparison With 1.6.2 / 1.6.3

  • 1.6.2: Delayed activation and scheduled start in shortcuts
  • 1.6.3: Updated screenshot recognition and combo shortcut links
  • 1.6.4: Adds AI recognition pipeline + HUD card style + unified envelope on top

If you already built a screenshot-recognition automation earlier, the 1.6.4 upgrade just needs you to swap in the new "AI Recognize Image" shortcut.

FAQ

Do these shortcuts work without LiveUp Pro?

AI Recognition itself is a Pro feature, so both shortcuts require Pro to produce activities.

Should I pick "Immediate" or "Delayed" in automations?

Depends on the scenario: real-time use cases like delivery and food benefit from immediate; trips and reminders fit delayed or specific-time activation.

What if Siri invocation fails?

Make sure the shortcut is added to the Shortcuts app, all parameters are filled, and LiveUp has the photo/library permission for image recognition.

Wrap-Up

The new AI shortcuts push the "automation + Live Activities" combo further. From 1.6.2's delayed activation to 1.6.4's AI parameters, LiveUp keeps getting better as an output node in your automation stack.
